Powerful sound from just one body

A two-part setup – consisting of a soundbar and subwoofer – promises all sorts of low frequencies and a decent bass. But what if your home doesn’t have enough room for the devices? Don’t worry, you don’t have to do without a balanced sound image anyway! Nowadays, there are a lot of soundbars that already have a subwoofer built-in. Therefore, in the following list, we present the best soundbars with integrated subwoofers.

You want a bigger setup instead? Then take a look at our list of the best soundbars with an external subwoofer!

Besides a built-in subwoofer, the Sony HT-A7000 has seven main channels and two height channels. Thanks to these, it can play almost any of the popular audio formats, including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. To create an even more immersive listening experience, it is equipped with Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine technology. The soundbar does not come close to the 3D sound of more extensive setups, but its stereo sound is particularly convincing. With a total output of 500 watts, it is also very powerful, even if you would expect a bit more from the maximum volume.

Among the built-in speakers of the soundbar is a separate center speaker that ensures clear dialogs and voices. The soundbar also includes the feature “Sound Field Optimization”, which automatically adjusts the sound to the conditions of your room. Unfortunately, there are only a few options to manually adjust the sound beyond that.

The soundbar’s connectivity options are impressive: For example, there is a LAN port, an USB interface, and a 3.5 mm jack input. If you prefer to connect to the soundbar wirelessly, you can do so via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Airplay or Chromecast.

Massive soundbar with top sound: Sennheiser AMBEO Soundbar

  • Dolby Atmos & DTS:X
  • Many connection possibilities
  • Large dimensions
  • High price

The price of the Sennheiser AMBEO, a 5.1.4 setup with a total of thirteen speakers, is obviously in a different league than the rest of the soundbars on this list. However, it has a lot to offer in terms of sound: The AMBEO 3D mode provides impressive surround sound that truly immerses you in the audio. Creating such an immersive listening experience – despite having the subwoofer integrated – is definitely something that only a few all-in-one soundbars can accomplish.

Not only does the Sennheiser AMBEO support almost every sound format currently on the market, but it also has all sorts of connectivity options to offer. For example, it has an AUX, an optical, a USB and an Ethernet port. There is also an HDMI eARC interface and three additional HDMI inputs for consoles and BluRay players. Those who prefer to connect wirelessly can do so via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or the integrated Chromecast.

Due to the large dimensions, the space for the Sennheiser soundbar should be well thought out: With its width of 49 inches, it does not fit between the feet of a 55-inch TV, for example. The height of five inches could also become a problem by covering the lower edge of the picture.

Cheap Dolby Atmos soundbar: TCL TS8111

  • Sound customization features
  • Low price
  • Many connection options
  • No Center Speaker
  • No HDMI eARC

The TCL Alto 8i is a 2.1 setup with an integrated subwoofer and at the same time one of the cheapest Dolby Atmos soundbars you can find. However, the surround and 3D performance are not quite as immersive, since the content has to be downmixed to stereo for playback. Height channels are simulated by the front-firing speakers projecting audio to the ceiling. Unfortunately, the soundbar does not have a separate center speaker, but its mids are well balanced, so voices are still reproduced clearly. The sound can also be adjusted with the help of the many EQ settings as well as the bass and treble adjustments.

The TCL Alto 8i does not offer an HDMI eARC port, but comes with plenty of other connection options, such as an AUX port. Lots of wireless connectivity options and smart features like Airplay, Chromecast or Wi-Fi are not available, though. Thus, users who want to stream music have to rely on the classic Bluetooth interface.

Frequently asked questions about Soundbars with internal Subwoofer

Is a soundbar with a built-in subwoofer good?

Soundbars can come with both built-in and external subwoofers. A soundbar with a built-in subwoofer is a good choice, if you are looking for a slim and compact solution. However, built-in subwoofers often cannot compete with the external ones.

What is an integrated subwoofer?

A subwoofer allows your soundbar to reproduce a wider range of frequencies. If the sub is already built into the soundbar, it does not require much space and you can still enjoy low frequencies.

Can I add a subwoofer to my soundbar?

It is possible to add a standalone subwoofer to some soundbars. Often, manufacturers offer the matching subwoofers in their product line. If your soundbar does have a sub out, you can also connect an external subwoofer manually.
