With a total of thirteen built-in speakers, the Sennheiser AMBEO Max is definitely one of the high-end products among soundbars. Among them are both side-firing and up-firing speakers, which in combination with the AMBEO 3D mode provide an impressive surround sound that puts you right in the middle of the cinematic action. With a total power of 250 watts, it gets sufficiently loud and there is also a subwoofer installed inside the soundbar. While other soundbars with integrated subwoofers struggle in terms of low tones, the AMBEO Max manages to reproduce low tones solidly and create an immersive listening experience.

For the price of the Sennheiser AMBEO Max you can of course expect a variety of features. Thus, almost any audio format that is currently available on the market can be played by the sound bar – including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. For streaming movies and series, you can connect wirelessly via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or via integrated Chromecast. The analog connection options are also impressive: In addition to an HDMI eARC port, the Sennheiser AMBEO has three additional HDMI inputs for players and consoles. There is also an AUX, an optical and a USB port as well as an Ethernet interface.

With a width of around 125 centimeters, the dimensions of the soundbar are not exactly small. Therefore, you should have a sufficiently large TV or an alternative location for the sound bar if you are thinking about purchasing it. It does not fit between the feet of a 55 inch TV, for example. The height of 13 centimeters could also lead to visibility restrictions if the soundbar is to be placed in front of the TV.

The Sennheiser AMBEO Plus is with a length of about 105 centimeters quasi the little sister of the AMBEO Max. Nevertheless, it can boast a total power of 400 watts and provides immersive sounds. It is a 7.1.4-channel system with a total of nine built-in speakers. Of course, a dual subwoofer is also integrated, so you don’t have to do without low tones despite the slim build. With its automatic room calibration, the sound is also optimally adapted to your own four walls.

In terms of audio content, the AMBEO Plus supports all common formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and 360 Reality Audio. For lossless transmission of these, it is equipped with a HDMI eARC output. The other connection options also leave nothing to be desired with an optical interface and AUX input. Bluetooth, Chromecast or Airplay are available for wireless connection. Voice control is also possible via integrated Alexa, for which the AMBEO Plus is connected to your network either via WLAN or Ethernet connection.
